I want to spread the word about the need to go to www.Lobbyline.com/swparking.htm in order to email Sharon Ambrose to urge her to stop some street work and parking restrictions that will go into effect in 2 days right here on or around your block and that are sure to make either your holidays or a friend or neighbor's holidays miserable. I urge you to write an email if you are a friend who lives in Sharon Ambrose's ward and you want her to know that you support me or another person directly affected by this. After all, accessible street parking is important to all of us in the city. Did you know that the Department of Transportation has scheduled parking restrictions for reconstruction and resurfacing work on or very close to your street or your neighbor's street- to begin on MONDAY, DECEMBER 23? That is in 2 DAYS or less! This is during the holiday season and will start on G Street, S.W., but is sure to make parking harder on all adjacent streets. That means it will affect parking near your house as well. I don't know about you, but I am incensed that this important but non-emergency resurfacing work will begin during the busiest time of the year and during the time of year when I will have guests coming to my home. Some of my guests may come from different parts of the area and some may come from out of town, some may stay a few hours, some maybe a few days - who will need access to parking spaces. I am angry about this pending work for many reasons. The advance notice was pathetic- 3 days for the parking restrictions and one week for the commencement of the resurfacing work. I found out from an undated letter and from the signs posted on the trees. What an insult! The timing couldn't be worse. Can you believe this? If you want to stop this, we have only this weekend before the first round of parking restrictions go into effect on MONDAY, December 23.
